Our History

The history of FSL Group started in 1913 as a small hardware shop by our beloved uncle and father under the name and style of "Malik Abdul Karim Abdul Aziz" Khalid Building situated at Railway Road, Gujrat, Punjab. They expanded their business through professional honesty, dedication, and hard work. They aimed to offer the best quality services to the customers. Before partition, the firm was the sole distributor of Tata Iron & Steel. India for Punjab & NWFP provinces was a regular importer of large steel products from Nippon Steel Corporation Japan & USS Steel Corporation Pittsburgh USA.

FSL started production of steel bars in the year 1988. However, since 1981, we have been manufacturing quality Billets under the name and style of "Karim Aziz Industries (Pvt.) Ltd" opposite the Railway Station Hassanabdal. Therefore, we have more than 30 years of experience in producing quality steel billets and steel bars since 1981. We produce the deformed reinforcement steel bars conforming to ASTM 615A, BSI 4449, BSI 4461, and AASHTO M-31.

Fazal Steel (Pvt.) Limited is one of the leading steel rolling mills in Pakistan. The company has excelled in the steel industry with expertise in manufacturing steel bars to reinforce concrete and sectional steel products of different grades and sizes.

FSL is best known for its state-of-art technology, high standards in quality, and commitment to the development of Pakistan. The company's success can be gauged by the mega-project portfolio in which it has participated over the last few decades. FSL has been one of the most progressive and dynamic organizations in the steel industry of Pakistan. FSL's new automatic re-rolling mill based on Italian and Indian design can roll out steel bars in sizes 10mm to 25mm in the first production line and 32mm to 63mm in the second production line with an annual capacity of 130,000 tons.

The company has installed advanced notching machines for engraving trademarks and identifications on every bar for traceability, plus another modern physical testing laboratory.

It is due to the effective utilization of the company's resources complemented by the use of the latest production technology that gives us a competitive edge and assures FSL's role as a leading manufacturer in the steel industry.

Group management has always been very forthright in setting long-range goals and its vision for the future. Employees and workers of the company remain actively involved in devising plans and their execution. It is possible for FSL to converge all company resources to achieve specific targets. To offer customers an extremely comprehensive product range, the company has recently decided to diversify into manufacturing girders, angles, channels, flats, plain shafts, and T-Iron. Our 18" re-rolling mill, where several structural steel products are re-rolled in sizes 25mm to 63mm to fulfill the ever-growing demands of our valued customers. This 130,000 tons per annum capacity re-rolling mill results from modern technology and age-old experience in the steel industry.

To focus the energies of the management, staff, and workers, the Managing Director of FSL has put forward specific targets. These are:

• Complete satisfaction of customers by supplying products conforming to all stated requirements.
• Reducing wastage and breakdowns and increasing production rate.
• Controlling the cost of production to pass on its benefit to the consumer.
• Maintaining good working conditions.

The system at FSL revolves around these four basic principles, and as a result, the customer remains the main benefactor.

The sales department of FSL plays an active role in ensuring the customer's total satisfaction. The department is involved with customers from order taking the stage to the delivery of the final product. Before confirming sales, each customer has explained the complete product features through marketing material and in-person presentations. Customers are also invited to visit factory premises and witness quality control arrangements. The idea is that the customer must know what he will get for his money.

After a customer confirms the order, the sales department contacts the production planning department to ensure deliveries per the customer's schedule. The department again comes into the picture when the final inspection of each consignment is performed to ensure that the products delivered are as per the contract signed. These procedures have been designed and are followed to ensure total customer satisfaction.

Developing a country-wide infrastructure is no job for some selected persons or organizations. Every member of the society has to contribute equally as their national duty. Still, a few names always stand ahead because of their highly inspirational role as leaders.

FSL manages its fleet of prime movers to ensure timely deliveries to its priority customers. It is ensured that apart from the regular requirements of projects, urgent orders also adhere to save our customers from the work stoppage. The company has heavily invested in transportation and goes the extra mile in providing this facility to the customers. We have Trailers from the 30 Mt to 80 Mt range.

Fazal Steel (Pvt) Limited produces steel reinforcement rebars Grade-40 [280], Grade-60 [420], Grade-75 [520], Grade-80 [550], and Grade-100 [690] conforming to standards ASTM 615A, BSI 4449, BSI 4461 and AASHTO M-31, sizes from 9mm to 43mm deformed, plain rebars, shafts (1.5" – 4") and structural steel such as girders, angles, channels, I-beams and flat rolls conforming to standard ASTM A 36.

Although the company has had a suitable quality control system for years, the transformation from a traditional system to a modern quality assurance system has lifted its performance to a new height. The fact that this system was designed in-house and FSL itself carried out its implementation speaks a lot about management's abilities and the commitment of its workers.

The company has documented manuals, procedures, work instructions, and job descriptions to achieve standardization in its operations. Every worker is trained and provided with copies of relevant work instructions written in the local language, enabling him to carry out his job thoroughly and professionally.

The company has formed a highly competent team headed by the Director of Sales to keep a close watch on the performance of all departments. This team includes Quality Assurance Manager, ISO 9001-2008 Lead Auditor, and Departmental Heads as its members. The team members coordinate with each other to ensure that customers get the best quality and best service at all times. A review meeting is held at least once a month to discuss ways to improve the system's performance from time to time. Customers are also invited to give their feedback on products and services. Their remarks, suggestions, and complaints are discussed in the review meetings, and actions are taken accordingly.
